Hundred Reasons

Handing out only three copies of their first demo, one ended up in the hands of Kerrang! and the band found their third ever show was supporting flavour-of-the month Canadian girl rockers Kittie at a show sponsored by the magazine. With an offer to release an EP on the back of that gig, the band put out ‘One’ at the end of July.

Following an evening session with Steve Lamacq, the band was nominated for ‘Best New Band’ at the 2000 Kerrang! Awards and lined up against bigger, more established names like My Vitriol and Raging Speedhorn, Hundred Reasons expected to play the gallant losers. Walking away with the award, the band set to do the work to justify the win. Touring with big names like Idlewild, Earthtone9 and Rachel Stamp and an NME ‘On Tour’ feature kept the band in the spotlight and soon saw them tipped as leaders of the new UK rock scene. To make the perfect end to a crazy year, Hundred Reasons won ‘Best Unsigned Band’ in the Kerrang! Readers Poll.

Signing a deal with Columbia Records in early 2001 and playing big league shows with Papa Roach and Incubus proved once and for all that Hundred Reasons were serious players. Hundred Reasons have nothing to prove, it’s all about music, emotion and five ordinary guys with the ultimate day job.
